چکیده

Heavy metal pollution from industrial wastewaters has become an issue of global concern. These are frequently used for inland irrigation which possess a serious risk heavy contamination both soil and cultivated crops. The problem is more common in developing countries like India where often discharged without appropriate treatments. Therefore, this study aimed at assessing the impact paper mill effluent on growth, productivity, accumulation potential two rice (Oryza sativa L.) varieties (PB-1121 PR-121). Water, soil, crop samples were obtained vicinity Saharanpur city, Uttar Pradesh, India, subsequently analyzed selected physicochemical parameters. Results showed that nearby Kali River water had significant (p < 0.05) loads pollutants impacted properties. Moreover, maximum plant height (123.48 ± 4.86 98.83 2.02 cm); total chlorophyll (6.70 0.25 6.64 0.17 mg/g); leaf carotenoids (0.67 0.08 0.63 0.05 starch content (71.08 2.05 72.60 1.63%); amylose (25.10 1.32 20.28 1.24%); yield (4270.20 75.12 5830.58 63.10 kg/ha); straw (5472.05 93.90 6683.76 61.26 kg/ha) PB-1121 PR-121, respectively, observed using source as compared to borewell water. order grain followed: Fe > Mn Zn Cu Cr Cd. Similarly, bioaccumulation factors metals >1 <1, respectively. target hazard quotient (THQ) there was no health irrigated with contaminated supply except PR-121 variety index (HRI) value exceeded limit (>1). As result, findings provide useful information about current state risks associated crops sources.

Phyto-extraction of heavy metals and biochemical changes with Brassica nigra L. grown in rayon grade paper mill effluent irrigated soil

In this study, distribution of metal accumulation and their biological changes of Indian mustard plants (Brassica nigra L.) grown in soil irrigated with different concentration of rayon grade paper effluent (RGPE, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%, v/v) were studied. A pronounced effect was recorded at 50% (v/v) RGPE on germination of seeds, amylase activity and other growth parameters in Indian mustard plan...

Risk Assessment of Heavy Metals Contamination in Paddy Soil, Plants, and Grains (Oryza sativa L.) at the East Coast of India

Heavy metals known to be accumulated in plants adversely affect human health. This study aims to assess the effects of agrochemicals especially chemical fertilizers applied in paddy fields, which release potential toxic heavy metals into soil. Those heavy metals get accumulated in different parts of paddy plant (Oryza sativa L.) including the grains. Concentrations of nonessential toxic heavy m...

Effect of Copper Contamination on Soil Biochemical Activity and Performance of Rice (Oryza sativa L.)

Copper (Cu) is an essential element for regular functioning of organisms. It plays significant role in number of physiological processes like photosynthetic and respiratory electron transport chains, N fixation, protein metabolism, cell wall metabolism, anti oxidant activity, fatty acid metabolism and harmone perception. However, excessive amounts of Cu in the root zone inhibit growth, chlorosi...

Heavy metal contamination of paddy soils and rice (Oryza sativa L.) from Kocani Field (Macedonia).

This research focuses on the heavy metal contamination of the paddy soils and rice from Kocani Field (eastern Macedonia) resulting from irrigation by riverine water impacted by past and present base-metal mining activities and acid mine drainage. Very high concentrations of As, Cd, Cu, Pb and Zn were found in the paddy soils (47.6, 6.4, 99, 983 and 1,245 microg g(-1)) and the rice (0.53, 0.31, ...

Genetic Diversity Assessment of Rarely Cultivated Traditional Indica Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Varieties

Random amplified polymorphic DNA fingerprinting was performed to assess the genetic diversity among rarely cultivated traditional indica rice (Oryza sativa L.) varieties collected from a tribal hamlet of Kerala State, India. A total of 664 DNA bands amplified by 15 primers exhibited 72.9% polymorphism (an average of 32.3 polymorphic bands per primer). The varieties Jeerakasala and Kalladiyaran ...
